Volkswagen UK launches Passat BlueMotion
Volkswagen’s UK branch has launched the Passat BlueMotion sedan and wagon, with deliveries to kick off in August. It costs £23,200 for the sedan and £24,750 if you want the wagon and both of them share a TDI 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 120 PS (88 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque which will be enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 10.8 seconds (11 seconds wagon) and a top speed of 130 mph (129 mph wagon).
The engine’s power is channeled to the front axle exclusively through a 6-speed manual gearbox and allows the Passat BlueMotion have a fuel consumption of only 3.7 liters / 100 km (63.5 mpg US or 76.3 mpg UK) in the combined cycle, with CO2 emissions of 95 g/km.
The frugal mid-size model is based on the entry-level S trim and is equipped with a post-collision braking system, 6.5-inch infotainment system, misfuelling prevention, driver alert system and start/stop technology. It also gets a battery regeneration system, unique 17-inch Soho alloy wheels with low-rolling resistance tires, along with different front and rear bumpers, chrome highlights on the front grille as well as a lowered sports suspension which makes the car sit 15 mm lower compared to the regular Passat.
