Volkswagen’s UK division has disclosed pricing details for the e-up! which will go on order on December 2, while deliveries are expected to commence towards the end of January. The model starts at a pricy 24,250 pounds, without taking into account the 5,000 pounds government grant which lowers the car’s price tag to 19,250 pounds. Available only with four doors, Volkswagen’s electrified up! comes with an electric motor producing 82 HP and 210 Nm of instant torque. It has received a lithium-ion battery pack that has a capacity of 18.7 kWh which offers enough juice for a range of around 160 km (99 miles).
Filling up the batteries from a regular household socket is a lengthy process which will take around nine hours. Volkswagen says the e-up! needs 4.9 seconds to get from 0 to 37 mph (60 km/h) and 12.4 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h), en route to a top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h).
In terms of equipment, the Volkswagen e-up! comes with cruise control, heated front seats, DAB digital radio, Bluetooth, electronic climate control system, rear parking sensors, Maps & More navigation system, as well as a six-speaker sound system and a heated windscreen.
