Volvo S60 Polestar production version revealed
Following a teaser which was released last week, Volvo has officially introduced the production version of the S60 Polestar which will be available in a limited series of 100 units exclusively for the Australian market. At its heart is a T6 2953cc inline-six engine outputting 350 HP (257 kW) at 5,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 369+ lb-ft (500+ Nm) available between 2,800 rpm and 4,750 rpm.
This powerful engine comes linked to a six-speed automatic gearbox featuring launch control which sends the horsepower to the Haldex 4WD system that has been further tuned by Polestar.
Polestar was also in charge of upgrading the software of the engine, along with installing a Borg Warner turbo, a brand new intercooler, as well as a custom stainless steel full-flow exhaust system featuring 3.5-inch tailpipes. Other noticeable changes include rear tie blades, strut brace with carbon fiber enforcement, front/rear stabilizers and new springs.
After making all these changes, the 2013 Volvo S60 Polestar production version is capable of performing the much important 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in just 4.9 seconds and it will keep on going until it reaches a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) which has been electronically limited.
The high-performance sedan sits on 19-inch alloys which were specifically developed for this model and have been covered in 235/40 R19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Stopping the car efficiently are ventilated front discs measuring 336x29mm along with ventilated Brembo rear discs measuring 302x22mm.
The S60 Polestar has a curb weight of 3,712 lbs (1,684 kg) and has received an array of aerodynamic enhancements like a rear spoiler, rear diffuser and front splitter corners. Moving inside the cabin we find Polestar badges and plates, door trims and gearshift knob.
Deliveries of the 2013 Volvo S60 production version are expected to kick off towards the end of June. We don’t have any information for the moment whether the Swedish automaker plans on offering this hot S60 in other markets besides Australia.
