Chevrolet Corvette C7.R storms into 2014 NAIAS
Chevrolet’s latest track weapon is the 2014 Corvette C7.R which will receive its racing debut on January 25 in the opening race of the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship where Corvette Racing will field two cars for the 52nd Rolex 24 at Daytona. The vehicle can also compete in other competitions such Le Mans and United SportsCar Racing. The model is being showcased together with the 2015 Corvette Z06 which will go on sale towards the end of the 2014. The car seen here has been fitted with 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin racing tires and also benefits from case steel rotors with six-piston calipers.
Motivation is provided by an upgraded variant of the 5.5-liter V8 naturally-aspirated engine mounted inside its predecessor, the C6.R. Chevrolet says output of the engine will increase from the current 485 bhp but even so the car will be considerably less powerful compared to the aforementioned Z06 which offers a minimum of 625 bhp from a 6.2-liter V8 LT4 engine.
