This year Lamborghini introduced the brand new Aventador SVJ Roadster to the world. The open-top Aventador SVJ Roadster delivers the same superior aerodynamics, performance, and handling of the original coupe Aventador SVJ. The SVJ in the Aventador Roadster’s name stands for ‘Super Veloce’ and ‘Jota’ which signifies the car’s high-performance abilities as well as its ability to dominate on the track. The Aventador SVJ Roadster is powered by a V12 engine which features a dry-sump lubrication system and pumps out 770 horsepower. The abundant amount of power allows the Aventador SVJ Roadster to reach 62 mph from a dead stop in as little as 2.9 seconds. The SVJ Roadster also has a top speed of 217 miles per hour.
The immense amount of power of the SVJ Roadster means you’d need some intense brakes that are capable of stopping a vehicle that is going over 200 miles per hour. Which is why the SVJ Roadster comes with a dual hydraulic circuit brake system with a vacuum brake booster. The braking system also features CCB with 6-cylinder brake calipers at the front and 4-cylinder brake calipers at the rear. All of this allows the SVJ Roadster to come to a full stop from 62 miles per hour in a remarkable 31 m.
Just like the coupe Aventador SVJ the Roadster versions design pulls directly form aeronautical references such as fighter jets and space ships. The ALA system which is Lamborghini’s patented active aerodynamic system constantly changes the aerodynamic load to achieve low drag or high downforce. Whether the system produces high downforce or low drag depends on the dynamic conditions of the electronically-actuated motors placed in the rear wing and front splitter. When the ALA system is activated the aerodynamic set-up of the car will be optimized in a, blink and you miss it, 500 milliseconds.
The superior handling of the Aventador SVJ Roadster is thanks in part to the specifically calibrated four-wheel-drive system with ESC. This system works to deliver the best handling in any traction situation from smooth asphalt to sleek snow. The SVJ Roadster rides on extremely lightweight ‘Nireo’ aluminum rims which are outfitted with specifically designed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
