BMW M3 Sedan, M4 Coupe and Convertible to Get Special Competition Package
BMW, the German luxury automaker, would be offering a special Competition Package from BMW M GmbH with the M3 Sedan, M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible high-performance sports cars from March 2016 in USA. The aforementioned Competition Package not only comes with cosmetic upgrades but it also take the power output of these sports cars to 444bhp. It would cost $5,500 on the M3 Sedan and Coupe and the $5,000 on the M4 Convertible.
Talking about the Competition Package of BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe, it comes with special lightweight M sports seats with seatbelts woven-in BMW M stripes. The competition Package also gets M sports exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes, which not only looks spectacular but also makes a potent sound. In addition, the special package boasts of extended BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line exterior trim. Several exterior elements such as the signature BMW kidney grille, the side gills and the model badge on the tail now feature high-gloss Black finish.
Just so you know, BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe touch the 60mph milestone from standtill in 3.9 seconds. However, with the inclusion of Competition Package, both these sports cars improve their performance by 0.1 second. On the other hand, the BMW M4 Convertible does a 0-60mph sprint in just 4.2 seconds, but with the special package it too improves this sprint by 0.1 second. For those asking, all the sports cars now get the 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M-DCT) as a part of Competition Package as standard instead of the 6-speed manual transmission.
Coming to the other mechanical aspects of the Competition Package, it comes with Adaptive M Suspension which is said to be extensively tuned to enhance performance and handling. The Adaptive M Suspension gets new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, along with reconfigured driving modes (Comfort, Sport and Sport+). The aforesaid elements are complimented well by the specially tuned Active M Differential on the rear axle and Dynamic Stability Control feature. The inclusion of multi-spoke 20-inch M alloy wheels sums up the the list of upgrades that Competition Package carries.
