Peugeot 2008 detailed

Ahead of its Geneva Motor Show arrival, Peugeot has released more technical details concerning the attractive 2008 crossover. The vehicle is based on the 208 supermini but its 20cm longer and 5cm wider, standing at 4.16m long and 1.74m wide. As a result, the crossover has a 360-liter cargo capacity which can be expanded to 1194 liters once the rear seats are folded. Standard equipment for the Peugeot 2008 includes six airbags, electronic brake assist, traction control, electronic brake force distribution, head-up display and a 7-inch touchscreen. The exterior has plastic mouldings on the bumpers and side sills, along with an increased ride height.

Powering the Peugeot 2008 is a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder VTi engine producing 81 hp, along with a larger 1.6-liter VTi pumping out 118 hp. The French company will also offer later on a turbocharged three-cylinder with 109 hp or 128 hp. On the diesel side, we find the 1.4-liter outputting 67 hp and a beefier 1.6-liter generating 91 hp or 113 hp.

The Peugeot 2008 will go on sale this summer and it sounds like it’s going to be a worthy adversary for the rather unattractive Nissan Juke which has been surprisingly successful so far.
