Peugeot introduces 2008 compact crossover

Peugeot has prepared a worthy adversary for the Nissan Juke in the form of the all-new 2008 compact crossover which is based on the 208 supermini. They haven’t released a lot of details about the new model but we do know that it measures 4160mm long, thus making it 25mm longer than the aforementioned Juke. In terms of styling, the car looks a lot like the 208 as it has a similar front fascia treatment and almost identical head/taillights. Just like you would expect, the driving position and ride height have been raised a little bit, while on the outside we notice the addition of a more masculine and rugged body kit. The car shown in these photos is riding on a fresh new set of 17-inch alloy wheels.

It should be mentioned that the Peugeot 2008 will be sold only in a front-wheel drive configuration but will be able to tackle off-road terrain thanks to the inclusion of a traction system known as Grip Control which is also available on the larger 3008 model. The engine lineup will be carried over from the 208, including 1.4 and 1.6 e-HDI diesels and a new 3-cylinder, 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.

Peugeot announced that this model has been designed & developed across a few global markets and that it will be produced globally in Brazil, China and France.
