2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet introduced
Audi has unveiled the 2014 A3 Cabriolet which is scheduled to make its first public appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show which kicks off tomorrow. The length of the car has grown from 4.24 meters to 4.42 meters compared to its predecessor, while width is up from the previous 1.77 meters to 1.79 meters. Audi mentions that the wheelbase has also been elongated from 2.58 meters to 2.60 meters, while the height of the car was dropped by 15mm to 1.41 meters. Thanks to the bigger size, the new A3 Cabrio provides an additional 60 liters of cargo capacity, while weight was reduced by 50 kg.
The new soft cloth top can be operated in both ways at speeds that do not exceed 31 mph (50 km/h). It takes just 18 seconds for the top to be opened or closed, while at an extra cost the standard top can be replaced with an “acoustic top” that contains a thicker inner foam layer which can diminish interior noise.
Powering the 2014 Audi A3 Cabriolet is a 1.4-liter TFSI with 140 HP, a more powerful 1.8 TFSI outputting 180 HP and a more economical 2.0 TDI churning 150 HP. There will also be a 110 HP 1.6 TDI and the flagship S3 Cabriolet with its 300 HP coming from a 2.0 TFSI. The latter will hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds when linked to a 6-speed S tronic gearbox.
