2014 Dodge Dart SRT4 surfaces the web
It was only yesterday when we talked about the arrival of the 2014 Dart GT as the range-topping variant of the lineup, but we already knew a higher-spec version was in the works at Dodge. Rumors about a flagship SRT variant have been going around the Internet for approximately one year and now we have the first proof that such a model is in the pipeline.
Known as the SRT4, the new version is scheduled to go into production in the following months and it will most likely be sold as a 2013 model year. The current most powerful version, the GT, draws its 184 hp (137 kW0 from a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine.
As you would expect, the 2014 Dodge Dart SRT4 will be considerably more powerful than the RT and is rumored to get a 1,8-liter, 4-cylinder engine from Alfa Romeo or a more potent version of Dodge’s Tigershark unit. Various reports are indicating an output of around 300 hp (224 kW), with the power being sent to a dual clutch gearbox.
If you look closer at the lower right corner you will notice “Tim Doyle” which was the lead exterior designer in charge of the Dodge Dart project, which makes us believe that this photo is not a fake.
