American tuner Hennessey is taking a stab at the 2015 Ford Mustang and the model of their choice is the GT. In its standard configuration, the V8 5.0-liter motor unleashes 420 bhp but after the aftermarket specialists work their magic the output is bumped to no less than 717 bhp. The massive additional oomph is obtained after installing a supercharger, upgrading the fuel injectors & pumps, remapping the ECU and mounting a stainless steel exhaust system. Thanks to the added power, the Mustang GT by Hennessey sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds and does the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at 131 mph (210 km/h).
Prices for the power upgrade begin at $59,500 (including the donor car) and Hennessey plans on building only 500 units. The tuner says a power package for the four-cylinder 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine is already in the works. At an additional cost, clients can configure their cars with a carbon fiber body package, Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 2 tires.
