The 2016 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron has arrived in United States and carries a starting price of $37,900. It will effectively go on sale in October and on top of that price you will also have to pay the $925 destination charge, but the final price tag will probably be lower once you factor in the applicable federal, state and local incentives. In return for your investment you will get a five-door hatchback with a plug-in hybrid setup consisting of a 1.4 TFSI gasoline engine teamed up with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery that has an 8.8 kWh capacity. This grants the vehicle with a combined output of 204 bhp and a peak torque of 258 lb-ft.
Audi of America isn’t saying anything about the car’s performances, but we remind you its European cousin needs 7.6 seconds for the 0-60 mph sprint and tops out at 138 mph. Perhaps more important are the fuel consumption figures which stand at just 1.5 liters / 100 km (156.8 mpg US or 188.3 mpg UK) while the battery’s energy can lost for up to 31 miles (50 km) of driving solely on electric power.
The 2016 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron will come as standard with 16-inch wheels, panoramic sunroof, Xenon plus headlights while inside there’s a dual-zone automatic climate control system, 7-inch MMI infotainment system and a leather-covered steering wheel.
