Audi unveils 2014 Sport Quattro Laserlight concept at CES

Back in September 2013 at the Frankfurt Motor Show we saw Audi’s updated Sport Quattro concept and now the vehicle has made a comeback at CES in Las Vegas wearing the Laserlight designation. The main difference between the two concepts is the adoption of matrix LED headlights equipped with laser light technology which have enough power to illuminate up to 500 meters (1,640 ft). According to Audi, these headlights have three times the luminosity of LED high-beam lights. The concept also comes with a striking Plasma Red exterior paintjob and inside adopts a 3D display with an Nvidia Tegra 30 processor.

Motivation is provided by the same plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor which has the shape of a disc. The vehicle offers a combined output of 700 HP and 800 Nm of torque and will do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 189 mph (305 km/h).

The Audi Sport Quattro laserlight concept and its predecessor can cover distances of up to 31 miles (50 km) on electric power while in hybrid mode they will return 94.1 mpg US.
