Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell travels 435 miles without refill

Hyundai’s revolutionary ix35 Fuel Cell now holds the record for the longest journey took with a series production fuel cell vehicle. The car managed to travel for an impressive 435 miles (700 km) during a trip from Oslo, Norway to Malmö, Sweden which went through Gothenburg, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark. The trip took 10 hours and the vehicle managed an average speed of 47 mph (76 km/h). Interestingly, after the journey ended, the vehicle’s trip computer showed a remaining 6 mile (10 km) range so there was still some juice available in the hydrogen tank.

This result comes as a bit of a surprise taking into consideration that when Hyundai revealed the production-spec ix35 Fuel Cell they said that it would be capable of providing a maximum range of 369 miles (594 km). It just goes to show that in some cases, the official figures released by a manufacturer are actually better in real life conditions.
