Geely GC9 first images and details released

The Geely GC9 is being previewed online prior to a full reveal set for next week. The model represents the company’s range-topping offering and is essentially a production variant of the KC concept which came out at the 2013 Auto Shanghai in China. Styled by Volvo’s former chief designer Peter Horbury, the GC9 looks a lot better both inside and out than most of the cars coming from China and will likely be a sales hit once it goes on sale in 2015. It’s also one of the safest cars in China as it was developed to get a five-star crash rating in the C-NCAP tests.

The Geely GC9 was engineered by a global team from Shanghai, Los Angeles and Gothenburg and will be offered with an in house six-speed automatic gearbox. The base version is going to use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine while the mid-range model is getting a more efficient 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbocharged motor. As for the range-topping variant, this will have a more powerful and larger 3.5-liter V6.

The GC9 will receive its premiere at the Beijing Water Cube in China during the Geely Brand Night which will be organized on December 15 when the Chinese automaker will provide full details about their flagship model.
