2014 Porsche 911 RSR breaks cover

Porsche has introduced the 2014 911 RSR which has been developed to race in World Endurance Championship. As you would imagine, the car is based on the seventh generation of the legendary 911 and comes with a whole bunch of body parts manufactured from carbon fiber, including the rear wing, center console, doors and dashboard. To lower the curb weight of the car even further, Porsche engineers installed a lithium-ion battery and polycarbonate windows. Two 911 RSRs will be part of the Porsche AG Team Manthey and these will be driven by Joerg Bergmeister, Romain Dumas, Richard Lietz, Marc Lieb, Timo Bernhard and Patrick Pilet.

The heart and soul of the 2014 Porsche 911 RSR is a 6-cylinder, 4.0-liter boxer engine capable of outputting no less than 460 HP (338 kW). This power unit is linked to a new 6-speed sequential gearbox which is operated by the driver via the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
