All-new Peugeot 308 revealed

French automaker Peugeot has taken the wraps off the new generation of the 308 which will make its public debut in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is shorter and lower compared to the model it replaces as it now measures 4.25 meters in length and 1.46 meters in height. Thanks to the lower engine mounting positions, Peugeot was able to come up with a much sharper front end which looks a lot sleeker than before. The new model is as much as 308 lbs (140 kg) lighter than before and the most economical versions have CO2 emissions of just 85 g/km.

In terms of design, we see a lot of resemblances with the 208 model, while the interior has gained an “i-cockpit” design with just about the same steering wheel / instrument cluster combo as seen in the smaller 208. The center console is home to a 9.7-inch touchscreen, while cargo room has increased to 470 liters.

The 2014 Peugeot 308 will be manufactured in Sochaux, France and will go on sale shortly after its Frankfurt arrival.
