2013 Datsun GO launched in India

The Datsun name has been revived by Nissan with the launch of the 2013 GO in India. The name is a throwback to the company’s very first model which came out back in 1914. The car you are seeing in these official platforms is based on the Nissan Micra platform and it’s a no-frills five-door hatchback which is 3785mm long, 1635mm wide and 1485mm tall, while the wheelbase spans at 2450mm. It will be sold only with a modest 1.2-liter gasoline engine which will work together with an old five-speed manual transmission tweaked for city use.

The outside of the car shows a strong resemblance to the Nissan Micra, while the interior cabin doesn’t have a glovebox compartment as this has been replaced by a space located under the dashboard. The gear lever and handbrake are installed on the dashboard which means there’s more space available between the front seats. Looking at the AC vents and door handles, we can clearly see these have been taken from the Micra as well.

The Datsun GO will be manufactured in India and will go on sale there first in 2014, but will be followed by other emerging markets like Russia, South Africa and Indonesia.
