Fiat is revitalizing its rather aging Punto sold in the United Kingdom by introducing a special variant dubbed Sporting. This derivative of the Punto was created mostly to attract young customers and has received a sports body kit which includes a rear spoiler and beefier side skirts which provide the car with a more masculine appearance. Other changes compared to the standard model include 16-inch rims, glossy black roof, tinted headlights, 16-inch rims and an attractive two-tone paint scheme. Other goodies on the list would have to be the chromed tailpipe, front fog lights and a sport-tuned suspension.
Motivation comes exclusively from a 1.4-liter gasoline engine which is being offered with either 77 HP or 105 HP (77 kW). The interior cabin has gained a “Tarmac finish” dashboard, sports steering wheel, along with leather-wrapped handbrake lever and gear knob.
Fiat UK is offering this special edition as a three-door coupe and as a five-door hatchback, with pricing starting from 12,355 pounds. A replacement for the Fiat Punto is likely to arrive very soon, possibly next year as the model has started to show its age. After all, the current generation has been on sale since 2005.
