2014 Porsche 911 GT America launched

Porsche has prepared a race car which will compete in the United Sports Car Racing (USCR) GT Daytona Class. It’s called the 911 GT America and is actually based on the 911 GT3 Cup but with a bespoke rear wing that provides great “aerodynamic balance.”

It also comes with a Cosworth digital dash, roof rescue hatch and a carbon fiber underbody. Stopping the car efficiently are 380mm slotted vented rotors made from steel working together with front four- and rear six-piston calipers.

Motivation for the 2014 Porsche 911 GT America comes from a flat-six 4.0-liter engine unleashing 470 HP (345 kW). This engine is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox which can be controlled by the driver via a pneumatic paddle shift system.

Porsche has fitted this model with its Endurance Package that includes quick-release coupling for all brake calipers, an oil level display and a fast-fill refueling system for oil.

Deliveries are expected to commence in October to those willing to pay at least $269,000 for the base model.
