Audi previews 2015 e-tron quattro concept

Audi has released several teaser sketches of their new e-tron quattro concept which will be shown in full next month at IAA. The vehicle is a preview for the Q6 electric crossover that will go on sale sometime in 2018 but until then we should take a closer look at this concept which as you can see adopts a sloping roofline and black plastic body cladding to enhance the model’s ruggedness. It has also received some smart-looking matrix laser OLED headlights while the body’s drag coefficient stands at only 0.25 which according to Audi is unmatched in this segment.

Bigger than the Q5 but smaller than the Q7, the e-tron quattro concept rides on the MLB Evo platform and has a large lithium-ion battery pack granting a maximum range in excess of 310 miles (500 km). It’s powered by three electric motors (one at the front / two in the back) and features some components sourced from the R8 e-tron that wil go on sale later this year.
As for the interior, it comes with a plethora of OLED screens that have replaced virtually all physical buttons and knobs. This driver-oriented cockpit also has OLED displays for the two passengers sitting in the back and all of the controls to access the car’s functions are done by touch operation.
