Audi provides a closer look at A4’s virtual cockpit
Audi has published new promo footage with the 2016 A4 (B9) and in this video we take a closer look at the virtual cockpit. It’s a €500 extra option that replaces the traditional analog instrument cluster with a fully digital 12.3-inch TFT that works at 60 fps and has a 1,440 x 540 resolution. Both virtual needles are very precise according to Audi and you will be able to choose between either an infotainment or a classic view. When selecting the former, the tachometer and speedometer will be smaller in order to make room for a large central display showing navigation data or info regarding phone, audio and radio.
If you choose the classic vide, the dials for the tachometer and speedometer will have just about the same size as the conventional ones while the central display will obviously be smaller. Overall, the classic mode will mimic the appearance of the analog instrument cluster. The driver will be able to choose between the two by using a “view” button that has been positioned on the steering wheel.
The 2016 Audi A4 will be going on sale across Europe in the months to come while United States will get the car in the first quarter of next year.
