Bentley Bentayga breaks cover
The Bentley Bentayga is finally making its official debut online and will be heading to next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s the company’s first ever SUV and represents a production version of the EXP 9 F concept, but with a new front end that mimics the Continental GT while the rear end shows some similarities with the Flying Spur. It comes equipped with LED headlights, 20- to 22-inch alloy wheels, aluminum roof rails and a front skid plate while the front fender vents are shaped like a “B”. Thanks to its aluminum-intensive construction, the model weighs 236 kg less than it would have with a steel body.
Step inside the luxurious cabin and you will find an 8-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, optional individual rear seats, 1,950-watt aim for Bentley Premium Audio system, rear-seat entertainment system, 22-way adjustable front seats which are heated, ventilated and have a massaging function.
In terms of power, the Bentley Bentayga has a W12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine generating 608 PS and 900 Nm of torque sent to a four-wheel drive system via an 8-speed automatic gearbox which allows the high-riding model to run the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in 4 seconds and top out at 187 mph (301 km/h).
Despite its sheer size and weight, it manages to remain relatively frugal as Bentley says the Bentayga will return 14 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway and 16 mpg in the combined cycle which translates to 12.8 liters / 100 km on average.
