Donkervoort D8 GTO Bare Naked Carbon Edition announced
The Donkervoort D8 GTO Bare Naked Carbon Edition is making its online debut as the company’s first fully carbon fiber-bodied model. According to the Dutch specialty marque, the lightweight body reveals “a bit of its dark side” and also “accentuates the high-tech, super-fast character of the D8 GTO.” They say carbon fiber has been used for just about all the exterior and interior bits and pieces, including the door panels, seats, door sills, dashboard and window frames. Moreover, the lightweight material was applied onto the headlight housings, belt-and-roll bar trim and also on the ignition cylinder housing.
The Donkervoort D8 GTO Bare Naked Carbon Edition is motivated by a 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine borrowed from Audi and tuned to deliver 400 PS (294 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. Performance figures have not been released, but we remind you the regular D8 GTO needs 3 seconds to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and tops out at 158 mph (255 km/h). Taking into account this special edition is considerably lighter, it should be able to run the sprint much faster.
