Ferrari 458 Speciale announced
Ferrari has revealed the more powerful and lighter version of the 458 Italia which will be sold under the “Speciale” moniker. Compared to the standard model, this hotter variant is considerably lighter as it has a dry weight of just 2,843 lbs (1,290 kg). In addition, the 4.5-liter V8 engine has been massaged to deliver 605 HP (445 kW) at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque of 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) reached at 6,000 rpm. As a result of these updates, the car can now do 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3 seconds, while in 9.1 seconds it goes from 0 to 124 mph (200 km/h).
Michelin has created special Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires for the Ferrari 458 Speciale, a car which will feature front & rear movable aerodynamic flaps which can autonomously adapt to lower drag and also to balance downforce whenever necessary. There’s also a SSC – Slide Slip Angle Control system which is capable of analyzing the slip angle, then compare it to a target figure and afterwards it will optimize torque management.
The car will be publicly unveiled in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
