Fiat announces 500X Opening Edition
Fiat has taken the wraps off the “Opening Edition” for the recently unveiled 500X compact crossover. It is programed to go on sale at the beginning of 2015 and will be offered as standard with an Art Grey exterior paint scheme combined with special badging, tinted rear windows and 18-inch wheels. It also comes with the Safety and Comfort packages as well as an automatic climate control system. Power comes from either a MultiJet 1.6-liter with 120 HP (88 kW) or a Turbo MultiAir II 1.4-liter developing 140 HP (103 kW), with both sending power to the front wheels.
The more expensive version makes use of a MultiJet II 2.0-liter developing 140 HP (103 kW) sent to an all-wheel drive system through a nine-speed automatic transmission. This higher-spec variant comes with an Amore Red paint, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers, while inside the cabin it gets a two-tone theme, electrochromic rearview mirror and Uconnect infotainment system with GPS support.
Fiat has announced production will be capped at 2,000 units and the 500X Opening Edition will be offered only in Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, with prices kicking off at €21,900.
