There once was the cute BMW Isetta but this heavily modified beast has almost nothing in common with the base model. Set to be auctioned on February 16 by RM Auctions, the 1959 BMW Isetta Whatta Drag comes with a beefy supercharged Chevrolet V8 engine which is capable of outputting no less than 730 hp (544 kW). The entire horsepower is transferred to the wheels via a 2-speed manual gearbox.
Compared to the standard model, this prepared Isetta has the suspension borrowed from a BMW M3, while the stopping power is provided by dual-circuit disc brakes with an AP balance bar.
It sits on Goodrich G-Force tires, while the custom-sized 18×13-inch rear wheel has a Sumitomo HTRZ II tire. The car was developed to be fully operational, but its creators are saying that it should be used only for showcasing events rather than on the track or on public roads due to the reason that the huge amount of torque the Chevy V8 engine generates it could be very dangerous if driven improperly. However, if you are up to the challenge, nobody can stop you for taking the car for a memorable ride.
The vehicle is expected to fetch anything between 75,000 and 100,000 USD.
