Jaguar reveals first F-Type photo
Jaguar has released the first official photo of the highly anticipated and awaited successor of the legendary E-Type. This is the all-new F-Type which will be showcased by the British automaker starting with next week during the Paris Motor Show. From what we can tell, Jaguar has borrowed some of the styling cues from the 2011 C-X16 coupe.
The convertible version will hit the market in spring 2013, followed by the coupe which should be out in the summer of 2014. The company’s design department has chosen a modern four-cornered mouth for the F-Type, instead of the traditional prominent oval grille that we’ve seen in many models wearing the Jaguar badge.
We know for sure that the F-Type will be powered by a newly developed supercharged V6 3.0-liter engine as well as by a revised version of the company’s V8 5.0-liter supercharged engine. The first one might be offered in two power outputs: 335 bhp and 375 bhp, while the power of the V8 engine is still unknown. All those ponies will be sent to the rear wheels with the help of an 8-speed automatic transmission. As standard, all versions of the F-Type will get the stop/start technology.
In terms of size, it will be slotted above the Porsche Boxster but below the Porsche 911. The price will also be in between these two models, with various reports indicating that the entry-level model will cost approximately 55,000 pounds.
The 2013 Jaguar F-Type was developed on a shortened version of the all-aluminum monocoque and body developed for the XK. However, the new model will certainly be tuned in order to be more driver-focused. Jaguar bosses have mentioned in the past that even the entry-level F-Type will be more driver-focused than the XKR-S. Full details will be revealed next week in Paris.
