Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series priced from 249,900 euros
Mercedes-Benz has released pricing information for the Black Series version of the SLS AMG which is scheduled to go on sale in Germany this June from a starting price of 249,900 euros. The German automaker describes the car as being a road-legal version of the SLS AMG GT3 and it rides on 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. It has received a new aerodynamic body kit with different side skirts, front and rear bumpers, rear diffuser and flared fenders. At its heart is a V8 6.2-liter engine pumping out 622 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque and is connected to a dual-clutch, 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT gearbox.
The car tips the scales at 1,550 kg (3,417 lbs) and brings adapted cam geometry. It has also received modified camshafts, while the custom bucket tappets have a special coating which is normally used on race cars. The SLS AMG Black Series needs 3.5 seconds to perform the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint, on its way to a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h). It benefits from a locking rear differential, AMG Adaptive Performance suspension, while the stopping power is provided by the carbon ceramic brakes. It also boasts a lightweight lithium-ion battery and a CFRP drive shaft.
