MG6 available in UK with a 1.9-liter turbodiesel engine
It’s been long overdue but MG is finally offering a diesel engine in the UK for the MG6. The car went on sale last summer and up until now it was offered exclusively with a gasoline engine, in a market where more than 80 percent of cars have a diesel engine. The MG6 is now available on order with a 1.9-liter DTi-TECH turbodiesel engine which represents a novelty for SAIC Motor, MG’s parent company. We are dealing with a 4-cylinder that is capable of producing 148 hp and a maximum torque of 258 lb-ft (300 Nm) reached at 1,800 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission which sends those ponies to the vehicle’s front wheels.
According to the British firm, the MG6 needs 8.9 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) and is able to achieve a top speed of 120 mph (193 km/h). It allows the vehicle to return 46.1 mpg UK or 6.2 liters / 100 km during city driving, 59 mpg UK or 4.8 liters / 100 km in the extra urban cycle and 53.5 mpg UK or 5.3 liters / 100 km in the combined cycle. CO2 emissions stand at 139 g/km.
Customers can get the diesel-powered MG6 liftback in three trim levels: S, SE and TSE, while the sedan is available exclusively in a single trim level. Pricing begins from 16,995 pounds and brings standard equipment like ABS with EBD, EBA, SCS, air conditioning, hill hold, electric windows and audio system with RDS, MP3, USB, AUX and CD player capabilities.
