All-new Audi R8 unveiled ahead of Geneva debut
The all-new Audi R8 has finally been revealed in full and it’s now heading to the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. It’s no longer available with the V8 engine as the base model gets the V10 5.2-liter with 540 HP (397 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) whereas the R8 V10 Plus adopts an uprated variant of the same motor which churns 610 HP (449 kW) and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). The base model weighs 1,555 kg compared to the more expensive and powerful version which tips the scales at 1,454 kg.
In terms of performance, the standard model will need 3.5 seconds to get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) while the beefier model can do it in just 3.2 seconds. The all-new Audi R8 has a top speed of 200 mph (320 km/h) in the base version and 205 mph (330 km/h) in the Plus model. Not like it matters a lot, but fuel consumption stands at a more than decent 11.8 liters / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 275 g/km in the standard car and at 12.4 liters / 100 km with 289 g/km of CO2 emissions in the Plus model.
Both of them come with a quattro all-wheel drive system receiving power from a tweaked seven-speed S tronic transmission. LED headlights are standard on both models while at an additional cost there are laser headlights available. The R8 V10 Plus comes with a fix rear wing made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic and rides on 20-inch wheels (R8 V10 has 19-inch rims).
As far as pricing is concerned, the all-new Audi R8 kicks off at €165,000 and is scheduled to go on sale this summer alongside the R8 V10 Plus which costs €187,400.
