All-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate breaks cover
Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the C-Class Estate which compared to its predecessor it’s 96mm longer, with 80mm of the added length going into the wheelbase that now stands at 2840mm. The wagon’s width has increased by 40mm while the trunk space has increased by 5 liters to 490 liters. If more space is necessary, you can fold down the rear seats to benefit from a 1,510-liter capacity which is 10 liters more than what the outgoing model offers. The rear seats fold in a 40/20/40-split and feature electrically foldable backrests.
Even though the model’s size has increased, the car is actually 143 lbs lighter than the model it replaces and can be configured with an air suspension benefiting from a self-leveling function. Engines and gearboxes are carried over from the sedan while for more money the car can get an Easy Pack featuring assisted tailgate opening, along with a Hands-Free Access system so you can close or open the trunk by waving your foot under the car’s rear bumper.
Mercedes-Benz has announced sales of the C-Class Estate are scheduled to kick off this September, with pricing to be announced closer to the car’s launch.
