Opel launches facelifted Meriva
German automaker Opel has introduced a mildly facelifted variant of the Meriva which has gained a new 1.6-liter CDTI diesel power unit. This engine is borrowed from the Zafira Tourer and pumps out 136 HP (100 kW) and a peak torque of 236 lb-ft (320 Nm). In this configuration, the 2014 Meriva will consume just 4.4 liters / 100 km (64.2 mpg UK or 53.4 mpg US) with corresponding CO2 emissions of 116 g/km. According to Opel, the engine will be offered in different states of output sometime next year.
Aside from the new engine, the facelifted Meriva gains a revised front grille, LED DRLs and taillights, additional chrome inserts around the fog lights and also reworked headlamps. The cabin is home to a seven-inch IntelliLink infotainment system providing all sorts of goodies such as full Europe mapping navigation, Bluetooth telephony support, rear-view camera and voice control capabilities.
