Production-spec Ford Escort launched in China
Ford has taken the wraps off the production-ready Escort which will be commercialized in China and is set to make its public debut later this month during the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show. The model is slated to reach dealerships on January 20, 2015 and will be slotted above the Fiesta and below the Focus. The looks of the car are very familiar as it largely borrows the headlights from the Focus, the Aston Martin-like grille while the overall design clearly mimics the Fiesta but with a sedan rear end. On the inside there’s a simple yet functional cabin with a Connect Radio system and six airbags.
The 2015 Ford Escort in Chinese specification will be motivated by a 1.5-liter Ti-VCT four-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine developing 115 HP (85 kW) and a maximum torque of 142 Nm (105 lb-ft). Output is sent to the front wheels via either a standard five-speed manual gearbox or an optional six-speed automatic transmission.
