Skoda Octavia RS diesel gains all-wheel drive and six-speed DSG
Czech marque Skoda is introducing an all-wheel drive version of the Octavia RS diesel. Moreover, this version also comes with a six-speed DSG dual clutch automatic gearbox which works together with the four-cylinder, 2.0-liter TDI engine that has 184 PS (135 kW) and a maximum torque of 380 Nm (281 lb-ft) available between 1,750 rpm and 3,250 rpm. Thanks to this hardware arrangement, the hot hatchback will need just 7.6 seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and it will continue to accelerate until reaching a top speed of 142 mph (228 km/h).
Just like all the other Octavia RS models, this all-wheel drive diesel version gets the electronic differential lock (XDS+), a sport-tuned multi-link suspension) and progressive steering. Skoda says this version is also quite frugal as fuel consumption in the combined cycle stands at just 4.9 liters / 100 km with corresponding CO2 emissions of 129 g/km.
With the addition of this new member, the Skoda Octavia lineup now has no less than 15 members, from the eco-friendly GreenLine version to the range-topping RS 230 which is billed as being the quickest Octavia ever produced. Skoda also mentions this new model enables the marque to have nine models in its lineup featuring an all-wheel drive arrangement.
