Subaru STI Performance Concept breaks cover
The Subaru STI Performance Concept has taken the New York Auto Show by storm as nobody was expecting it. Before you get too excited, this is merely a concept as there aren’t any plans to put it into production, but it does pave the way for additional STI-tuned model coming to the United States in the near future alongside many STI-prepared components for a variety of US-spec models. Expect enhancements to the chassis, aerodynamics, engine, brakes and suspension of select models on sale right now in the United States.
As for the Subaru STI Performance Concept, it’s basically a hardcore version of the BRZ with power coming from a turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine sourced from the race-spec BRZ GT300 where it churns 300 bhp and 330 lb-ft of torque. Also from the track-only vehicle are the suspension components, chassis and the aerodynamic tweaks.
The added oomph is matched with a much more aggressive body enhanced by a fixed rear wing, beefy side skirts, prominent rear diffuser and flared wheel arches. It also benefits from additional vents and comes with a carbon fiber trim as well as Recaro-branded bucket seats.
