The Rise Of The SUV’s

The humble SUV. It’s a car that has been the powerhorse for so many people, for so many years. We even want to go as far as to say that it has been massively underrated for so many years now. The SUV to us is an all rounder. Whether you’re single, have a family, or drive off road for a living, the SUV can do it all. But as of late, we think that the SUV is becoming more and more popular, and there’s a few reasons for that. It’s getting more credit for the fine manufacturing that goes into it, and there are big brands out there such as Range Rover that are producing the future of the SUV. Of course, there are the long standing brands who have always produced top quality SUVs, such as Mitsubishi. So, if you haven’t got an SUV at the minute, we want to try and change your mind by pointing out some of the main reasons why the SUV is on the rise.

Pricing

Pricing is something that has really improved with the SUV. You would be wrong to think that because they’re such big cars, and the quality of design is looking great, that you’re going to end up paying through the nose for it. When actually, for the quality you’re getting, in a number of different areas, and the long lasting life of the car, you’re getting something really good for your money. Even a bottom end SUV with the lowest specs are still a good quality car to have for a lower price. Of course, you could find yourself spending a lot of money on some of them. Some of the latest SUVs in particular, have focused more of the specs of the car, piling them high with technology and motor powers, so the price you pay could be a lot higher than some of the choices you may have. But, if you want all of the bells and whistles, you’re going to have to pay. If you want our advice, we would recommend that you go to an actual dealership, and buy a brand new SUV. That’s if you have the money to spend of course. If you did that, the car would last you for years and years, and you’d still probably be able to sell it for a good price when the time comes to swapping cars again. Try not to get ripped off with the older SUVs if you go to a car sales garage rather than dealerships. It’s not secret that as a bigger car ages, it can have big problems.

What They Can Do

We touched on it lightly, but the SUV is an all rounder. A lot of them are now SUV and 4×4 crossovers, meaning they’re both effective when off road, and when on normal roads. That means that if you for example, go hunting, or have a farm, they can actually be used as powerful off road tools. That’s not to say that any of you would ever take it off road, but it’s nice to know that it has the capabilities if required. When driving on a normal road, the feel of the drive is usually nice and smooth with an SUV. The tyres are big, and the suspension is beefy, so any bumps are just absorbed before they get to you, meaning you pretty much feel nothing. We will be honest, some of the models are really not good on fuel. Because they’re so big, and have big litre engines, they’re known to guzzle food. But that’s not that say they’re all like that. A lot of them have really efficient engines at the minute, such as the Mitsubishi Outlander Phev. It’s leading the way in the SUV efficiency rate at the minute, and it’s a really lovely car for the design, both inside and out. You’re looking to get around 166 mpg from this car, which is a lot more than you would be able to get from most other cars. So, don’t be fooled into thinking that you would be trapped with a burning hole in your pocket due to fuel.

The Shape & Design

The shape and design is something that we can definitely say has been improved. A few years ago compared to now, the design was rather clunky and big, and it was the best looking car compared to others. However, now, the focus is more on making the car look modern, elegant, and sophisticated for the driver, and they’re doing just that. From the outside, you’ll generally find that the car either flows better, with smoother edges. Or you’ll find that it looks like a brute force, but in a more modern way. It all depends on the manufacturer and model that you go for. Generally, the more you spend, the better you can get the car to look, both inside and out. Due to technology, the inside is also looking a lot more futuristic, which is what customers are loving.

Safety

Safety is something that is improving in the auto world across all types of cars, not just the SUV. It just so happens however, that with the rise of the SUV, comes a rise in safety with it didn’t have before. Just because it was a bigger car being driven, it doesn’t mean the car was necessarily safe. However, if you think about some of the SUVs that Volvo has produced, you’ll notice that they’re so much safer than even small compact hatchbacks. That’s due to that particular manufacturer taking an interest in safety, and doing extensive research into improving it. But, it has led the way for the other manufacturers, and we now believe that the majority of SUVs are the safest car on the market.

Powerful Cars

It’s not all about being a family car, and the SUV definitely doesn’t have to be one of them if you don’t want it to be. You can get sport SUVs now, which have some of the best acceleration power you will find in a bigger car, purely because of the torque and bhp behind it. Don’t just assume that it will be a slow family car, it really can have some power behind it.
