Toyota has started the teasing game for the 2016 RAV4 Hybrid set to premiere in a few days at the New York Auto Show. Technical specifications are not available at this point, but most likely the hybrid compact crossover will use an adaptation of the hardware found inside the Lexus NX 300h which has a hybridized 4-cylinder Atkinson-cycle 2.5-liter engine outputting 194 bhp (145 kW). Whatever it will be, the model will fill in the gap left after Toyota decided to terminate production of the RAV4 EV which was developed in collaboration with Tesla Motors.
These two 2016 RAV4 Hybrid teasers show that aside from getting a new powertrain, the crossover is bound to receive some modest cosmetic tweaks as the taillights look sharper if we compare them to the 2015 RAV4. Some other changes could also be planned but are not visible from these two teaser images.
Toyota has announced the 2016 RAV4 Hybrid will make its world debut on April 2 at the New York Auto Show.
