Violent crash at Pikes Peak
At this year’s edition of Pikes Peak, Jeremy Foley and his co-driver had a bad day as they fell of the cliff in the exact same spot where a similar accident occurred in 2011. Both were transported to the hospital very fast and the good news is that they were released without any injuries that might risk their lives. This accident is a relevant example of how safe rally cars are nowadays thanks to safety features like a rollcage that is capable of withstanding multiple times the car’s weight, along with fuel systems that automatically disconnect, as well as seats, helmets, neck, harness and arm restraints that are working together for keeping the people inside the car safe. In addition, these are also fitted with an on-board fire suppression system that is automatically triggered.
