Volkswagen takes the wraps off the Golf GTI Clubsport concept
Volkswagen has staged the world premiere of the Golf GTI Clubsport concept at Wörthersee 2015 in Austria. It previews next year’s production model which will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Golf GTI and will come with an uprated version of the four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine set to deliver 265 hp while an overboost function will grant an extra 10% of power for a short while. The vehicle will have an Oryx White body combined with a black roof and 18-inch alloy wheels unlike the concept which rides on 19-inch rims.
The Golf GTI Clubsport concept has a 6-speed DSG, but the production variant could also be offered with a 6-speed manual transmission. Also part of the package is an electronically-controlled XDS differential and a slightly more aggressive body to match the added oomph which just like in the other Golf GTI versions it’s sent to the front axle as only the R version comes with an all-wheel drive system.
