Lego toys are not always just for children as some of the products could prove to be just as fun for adults as well. Take for example the L350F Wheel Loader developed by LEGO Technic in collaboration with Volvo Construction Equipment.
This is more than just a toy as it’s actually a fully remote-controlled model equipped with many of the features you will find in the real L350F wheel loader.
The impressive toy is made out of no less than 1,600 individual pieces and is capable of lifting more than 1 kg in its bucket.
LEGO Technic’s Niels Henrik Horsted, head of marketing and design manager Jeppe Juul Jensen says they have conducted hands-on research by visiting the Volvo factory and a construction site where they actually operated a real L350F. All the information obtained was used during development of the remote-controlled toy to obtain a representation as close to the actual model as possible.
Jensen says “We tried to make it as realistic as possible, so it drives, steers and lifts the load just like the real thing”. The level of intricacy is outstanding as the L350F Wheel Loader toy has removable oil filters while the radiator door swings out and the pistons actually move. In addition, the engine has received a green paint scheme as a reference to the real vehicle upon which the toy is based.
With the bucket lowered, the L350F measures over 9” (23cm) high, 22” (58cm) long and 6” (16cm) wide while the bucket reaches more than 14” (38cm) into the air. Just like the model upon which is based, the L350F Wheel Loader is capable of tackling rough terrains thanks to its generous ground clearance as well as chunky off-road tires.
