Volkswagen to show production e-up! and e-Golf at IAA in September
Volkswagen will be showcasing at next month’s IAA show in Frankfurt the production versions of the e-up! and e-Golf. The e-up! will be available exclusively as a four-door with an electric motor rated at 82 HP and 210 Nm. It will enable the electrified city car to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 12.4 seconds before hitting an electronically-capped top speed of 81 mph (130 km/h).
It will come with an 18.7 kWh battery pack which will be enough to provide the car with a maximum range of 99 miles (160 km).
As far as the e-Golf is concerned, this model will too be available strictly as a four-door but with a more powerful electric motor outputting 115 HP and 270 Nm. This electric setup will allow the car to hit 62 mph in a decent 10.4 seconds before topping out at 81 mph. Given the extra size of the car, Volkswagen had enough room to mount a larger 24.2 kWh battery which will grant the electric hatchback with a range of up to 118 miles (190 km).
