Czech automaker Skoda has officially revealed the third generation of the Octavia RS which will be available in a Combi variant as well. Both body styles will get their first public appearance on July 10 at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Customers will have the possibility of ordering the fastest Octavia ever with either a 2.0-liter TSI engine producing 220 HP (162 kW) or a 2.0-liter TDI generating 184 HP (135 kW). If these figures sound familiar, that’s because the gasoline engine is borrowed from the Volkswagen Golf VII GTI while the diesel is taken from the GTD version.
The Skoda Octavia RS sedan fitted with the TSI engine and a 6-speed manual transmission can perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 6.8 seconds en route to a top speed of 154 mph (248 km/h). The TDI-powered model will do the sprint in 8.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 144 mph (232 km/h). The 2013 Skoda Octavia RS lineup will also be available with an optional six-speed DSG transmission.
