2013 Toyota EV P002 for Pikes Peak revealed
Toyota will be returning to the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb event this year with an evolution of the EV P002. The car will be driven by Rod Millen who will attempt to defend Toyota’s time of 10 minutes and 15.380 seconds which is currently the record holder.
Up for a real challenge, Toyota Motorsport GmbH believes that it has what it takes to hold on tightly to its record as the vehicle just received better electric motors, along with tweaked “powertrain parameters” which were established accordingly for the event.
As far as we can tell from this single official image released by TMG, the 2013 variant of the EV P002 features a revised aero package featuring huge front and rear spoilers. The vehicle is powered by a couple of electric motors generating 544 HP (400 kW) and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque, working together with a 42 kWh lithium-ion battery. The racer should be capable of hitting a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).
