Toyota launches Corolla Axio and Corolla Fielder hybrids in Japan

Japanese customers on the look for a hybrid car have two additional options to choose from as Toyota has announced this week the Corolla Axio Hybrid and the Corolla Fielder Hybrid. These two models can be ordered with a Light Blue Metallic paint scheme and both of them come with “Synergy Blue” emblems and a redesigned front grille. On the inside there’s bespoke seat upholstery, blue-accented leather shift knob and a faux leather-wrapped dashboard. Toyota also installed a multi-information 4.2-inch screen, along with a “nanoe” ionizer which will remove pollen by releasing “particle ions embedded in minute water droplets.”

The Toyota Corolla Axio Hybrid and the Corolla Fielder Hybrid are motivated by an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-liter engine outputting 74 HP (54 kW) and 81 lb-ft (111 Nm) of torque. It works combined with an electric motor that has an output of 61 HP (45 kW) and 124 lb-ft (169 Nm). This setup provides these two cars with a combined output of 100 HP (73 kW) and allows them to return 93.2 mpg UK (77.6 mpg US or 3 liters / 100 km) in the JC08 test cycle.

Toyota says these two cars have been equipped with additional sound deadening material and a noise-reducing windshield.
