2014 BMW 4-Series Cabrio officially drops its top
BMW has taken the wraps off the 4-Series Cabrio which comes with a three-piece retractable hardtop that encompasses a new headliner capable of absorbing sounds and as a result the interior cabin noise is reduced by 2 dB compared to the outgoing 3-Series Cabrio. The roof needs only 20 seconds to open or close and this procedure is done by pressing a button at speeds of up to 18 km/h. We should mention the car comes with neck warmers featuring three pre-established temperatures so it will be more comfortable to drive it even when the temperatures outside are low.
In North America, BMW plans on selling the 4-Series Cabrio with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo developing 240 bhp and 255 lb-ft of torque which will power the 428i. There’s also the 435i model that carries an inline-six 3.0-liter mill outputting 300 bhp and 300 lb-ft. The 435i needs just 5.5 seconds from 0 to 60 mph and will keep on going until it reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Europeans will also have the possibility of choosing a 420d version motivated by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbodiesel generating 181 bhp. Depending on region, gearbox choices will include a six-speed manual and an eight-speed auto, while the 428i can be had with xDrive.
