After months of anticipation following the concept unveiled at Auto Shanghai, Mercedes-Benz has released today official photos and information regarding the GLA compact crossover which will get its public debut in several weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Essentially a high-riding A-Class, the GLA measures 4417mm in length, 1804mm in width and 1494mm in height. Cargo space stands at 421 liters or 836 liters if you decide to fold down the rear seats. Mercedes-Benz is offering a Load Compartment package which increases cargo space by 60 liters without having to fold down the rear seats. It does so by moving the backrest to a steeper position.
The car will be available at first as the GLA 200 model equipped with a 1.6-liter engine delivering 156 HP and as a GLA 250 model with a 2.0-liter outputting 211 HP. There’s also the GLA 200 CDI which has a 2.2-liter rated at 136 HP. You can also opt for the GLA 220 CDI that comes with a 2.2-liter producing 170 HP. The GLA 250 and GLA 220 CDI are also available with an optional 4MATIC all-wheel drive setup.
