2014 Subaru Forester heading to L.A. Auto Show

The fourth generation of the Subaru Forester has been announced by the Japanese automaker, before the crossover will get its public debut at the end of the month during the Los Angeles Auto Show. Compared to the outgoing model, the new has grown in size as it is 35mm longer, 15mm taller and 20mm wider, measuring 4595mm long, 1795mm tall and 1695mm wide. The wheelbase has also grown by 25mm, now measuring a respectable 2640mm.

As a result, it’s safe to believe Subaru saying that it “will offer an exceptionally roomy interior” and “an enlarged cargo area.”

In its domestic market, the 2014 Forester gets a 2.0-liter, flat-four engine that develops 146 hp and is linked to a six-speed manual transmission or a CVT. There’s also a more powerful 2.0-liter turbo boxer engine with 276 hp sold only mated to a CVT.

The U.S.-spec version will be sold with a choice of two engines, including the entry-level 2.5-liter boxer that generates 170 hp and can be connected to a six-speed manual or a CVT. Customers can also get it with a direct-injection turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter that pumps out 250 hp, mated only to a CVT.

In Japan it is scheduled to go on sale on November 13, while in the U.S. it will be introduced on November 30 when they’ll probably say when it will go on sale.
