First official images of 2014 BMW M3 and M4 emerge

You are looking at the first official images depicting the next-generation of the BMW M3 sedan and the first ever M4 Coupe. The cars are likely to be officially revealed tomorrow and will share a newly developed TwinPower Turbo inline-six 3.0-liter gasoline engine rated at 430 HP and 500 Nm. The four-door version will tip the scales at less than 1,500 kg (3,306 lbs) and will be 25 percent more frugal thanks to the lower curb weight helped by the optional carbon fiber roof. As for the coupe, it will carry most of the styling seen on the striking concept.

The design of the cars doesn’t hold any major surprises yet we are impressed at how tastefully restrained the vehicles look. They do have big air vents, beefy side skirts and muscular wheel arches but the overall design isn’t overly aggressive. At the back of both cars there’s a quad exhaust setup and they also share the double five-spoke grey rims.
