Toyota FT-1 concept makes an impression at NAIAS

One of the most striking concepts introduced this week at the North American International Auto Show is certainly the Toyota FT-1, a rear-wheel drive front-engined coupe styled by the Calty design team for its 40th anniversary. Looking like an apocalyptic version of the Toyota GT-86, the FT-1 wears a very aggressive body and comes with a wraparound windshield as well as 2000GT-like side glass openings. The cabin is home to a Formula 1-inspired steering wheel as well as a delta-shaped display section and a heads-up color display providing the driver with all the necessary details without having distracting his attention from the road.

Toyota didn’t say what powers the FT-1 concept but they did mention it has an internal combustion engine so maybe they are previewing a production model to sit on top of the GT-86, perhaps a new Supra.
